CCICED 2nd Chief Advisors and Secretariat Joint Working Meeting 2020

The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development’s (CCICED) 2nd Chief Advisors and Secretariat Joint Working Meeting (Q2 CHAD Meeting) was held via two virtual conference sessions on April 29 and 30, 2020.

The session on 29 April focused on an update to the chief advisors regarding the Special Policy Study (SPS) research progress. Each of the ten CCICED SPS teams presented its research progress and recent outputs. The session on 30 April focused on policy recommendations for China’s 14th Five Year Plan (FYP). About 20 speakers comprised of international members and special advisors briefly presented their perspective on the recommendations, and conducted discussions touching upon topics such as: quantitative targets and specific actions that should be included in the recommendations; the good governance policies, support tools and effective implementation measures that should be considered in the FYP; and the short-, medium- and long-term responses for post-pandemic economic recovery.

Following the 2nd CHAD meeting, the chief advisors collected all inputs from the speakers and formulated a draft of policy recommendations for the 14th FYP. Subsequently, council members and special advisors have had the opportunity to provide written comments on the draft before it is finalized for submission.
