Forum on Integrated Energy System in City Quarter at the 11th Jiangsu Green Building Development Summit

On 20th November, a side event on “Energy Systems in City Quarters” was held during the “11th Green Building Development Summit”. The event was jointly organized by the Science and Technology Development Center (STDC) of the Jiangsu Department of Housing and Rural Development (HURD) and GIZ. During this event the publication “A Guidebook: Development of Integrated Energy System in City Quarters in Jiangsu – Introducing German Experience in Low-carbon Community” (hereafter referred to as “Guidebook”) was presented to the audience. Ms. Sun Xuemei, deputy chief engineer of STDC and Dr. Alexander Fisher, head of Program for Environment, Climate and Natural Resources, GIZ China, delivered speeches at the forum. Dr. Alexander Fisher introduced the Jiangsu project and its team as well as its approach to implement projects. He pointed out that German know-how on integrated energy systems could be beneficial for low-carbon planning in Jiangsu’s city and industry parks as identified by officials at the NDRC and the BMU. He also addressed next steps to be taken in order to enhance the Sino-German cooperation on climate change. Afterwards, Deputy Chief Engineer Sun Xuemei announced the official release of the Guidebook and introduced the process of compiling it.

Extension of Jiangsu Project Phase III

The “Supporting the Low Carbon Development of Jiangsu Province Phase III” project has been extended on a cost neutral basis to 30 April 2023 to finalise all indicators for achieving its overall goal. The extension application was approved officially by BMWK on 1 February 2023.
