Support to Sino-German Cooperation on NDC Implementation: Sectoral Best Practice-Review of technologies: Cement sector

This report by Ricardo Energy & Environment focuses on technical measures for a reduction of CO2 emissions within the cement sector. The report goes into five different measures in Europe which could be implemented in China within the next five years. The five measures combined could reduce emissions by up to 20%. Additionally, the report discusses that another option for emissions reduction within the cement sector is to reduce production by reducing demand for cement and using substitutes, increasing longevity, recycling and more. Furthermore, carbon capture and utilization or storage can provide a tool for abating remaining emissions which is critically discussed. The report also conducts a reduction potential assessment for China.
