The Little Book of City Climate Finance, written by NewClimate Institute expert Katharina Lütkehermöller, has been officially published. It was commissioned by the IKI project Sino-German Cooperation on Climate Change – NDC Implementation.
As one of the NDCI project’s knowledge products, the little book is addressed to Chinese stakeholders at the city/regional level. Providing a simple guide to financing climate mitigation and adaptation, it starts by giving an overview of how municipal governments are affected by climate change. The little book also addresses climate finance roadmaps as centrepieces of cities’ efforts to achieve their climate finance goals through outlining bankable projects and funding sources. Finally, it discusses which potential sources of funding exist and how early involvement of and regular exchange with diverse stakeholders can help to better leverage them. To this end, the little book introduces best practice examples from cities all around the world, with a particular focus on Europe.
