Description: Janto is the Project Director of the Sino-German Cooperation on Climate Change – Climate Partnership. He has extensive work experience in the Asian context, with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Southeast Asia, as a project manager of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), and in the development and implementation of climate change projects.
In his most recent position, he acted as an advisor of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on the ongoing reform agenda of the global climate finance architecture and supported the negotiations to establish the new Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBF Fund), under the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Through this work, as well as his doctorate with a focus on private sector involvement in climate finance, from the University College London (UCL), he has a sound knowledge of international development agendas, the German development cooperation, and climate diplomacy.
