14 March 2018 – The Chinese Government announced that the topics of climate change and emission reduction, which are currently with the NDRC, will be moved to the newly created Ecological Environment Ministry. The new ministry will be based on the Ministry for Environmental Protection (MEP), but has been strengthened by a range of new responsibilities. The National People’s Congress still has to approve the plan, which is expected to happen during the current session.
