Exchange Meeting on Institutional Arrangements in the field of Climate Service Management arranged

On 24 August 2023, a hybrid virtual exchange meeting was organized by the Urban-Act project on the topic of institutional arrangements in climate services, upon the request of the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD). The workshop was attended by experts from World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Asia Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), National Climate Center under China Meteorological Administration (NCC-CMA), TMD, and GIZ.

During the exchange, the experts presented the National Framework for Climate Services (NFCS) and the status of climate services in Thailand, China, Vietnam, and Germany. The NFCS serves as a critical decision-making tool for national policymakers in terms of climate adaptation and disaster mitigation.

The purpose of this exchange was to initiate joint efforts towards promoting climate-friendly and resilient cities in partner countries, taking into account the contributions of climate services. This exchange marked the first-ever collaboration between GIZ and NCC-CMA on climate services. The Urban-Act project has laid a good foundation for close cooperation with NCC-CMA in the future.
