On 2 August 2023, the Urban-Act project’s China component and the Fund for Triangular Cooperation, both GIZ projects, joined forces to co-host an exchange and capacity building workshop on climate-friendly transport policy in Semarang, Indonesia.
On 2 August 2023, the Sino-German Energy Partnership organised a Gender Analysis Workshop to prepare the gender-related components for the new IKI project “Supporting China’s climate targets through ambitious green and low carbon energy transition”.
On 1 August 2023, as part of the ASEAN Mayors Forum in Jakarta, Indonesia, a parallel session titled “Building Resilient Cities and Climate Action” featured speakers from the Urban-Act project’s country partners in China, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
On 26 July, the first implementation workshop of the Urban-Act China component was held in Beijing, bringing together eight representatives from all four implementation partners of the project based in Shanghai, Beijing and Xi’an.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and the Institutes of Science and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASISD) jointly organised a hybrid workshop entitled ‘China-EU Expert Workshop on Climate Finance and Investment’ in Beijing on 10 July.
On 9 July, representatives of three local pilots on climate finance – Xixian New Area of Shaanxi province, Tianfu New Area of Sichuan province, and Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing city – agreed on a strategic cooperation framework amongst these pilots and signed an MoU on climate finance.
