GIZ Jiangsu Project Attended the Launch Ceremony of the 2021 SDC

On October 10th, 2020, a project launch ceremony was held for the joint participation of the 2021 Solar Decathlon China (SDC) by China University of Mining Technology (CUMT) and the Polish university “Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza (AGH)”. Ms. Hu Qiying, director of the GIZ Jiangsu project attended the ceremony and the related technical seminar. As a technical sponsor, the GIZ Jiangsu project will provide a technical proposal to enhance the energy performance of the current competition plan in order to reach the plus-energy building standard.

On May 13th, 2020, the CUMT-AGH joint team was formally selected as one of the world’s 15 finalists to compete in the final session of the SDC 2021. The SDC is the top international competition in the field of sustainable energy construction. In order to promote the preparation for the final, CUMT asked the GIZ Jiangsu project for technical support. In consideration of own aims of the Jiangsu project and the good demonstration effect of SDC, the Jiangsu project decided to provide a technical proposal to enhance the energy performance level of the current competition plan from nZEB to a plus energy house. Also, related construction documents will be made to help the joint team during the construction phase of the house. It was agreed that the house will be entitled as a pilot of plus energy house when it is built in Zhangjiakou, Hebei province.

Besides GIZ, many Chinese and German enterprises in the fields of construction, energy, and environmental protection were invited to the ceremony and the parallel school-enterprise matchmaking meeting.
