Press Conference for Jiangsu Low Carbon Development Report 2017-2018

On June 19, 2019, the 7th National Low Carbon Day with the theme of “Low Carbon and Clean Air”, Jiangsu Provincial Government held the press conference for Jiangsu Low Carbon Development Report 2017-2018. This annual report has been published since 2012, and GIZ Jiangsu Project supported the first publication.

The year of 2019 is the first year for the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jiangsu Province to be in charge of addressing climate change. The Department shall focus on the following priorities, e.g. playing the coordination role of the provincial climate change and energy conservation leading group; conducting the reporting, monitoring and auditing for key emission units; evaluating the fulfillment status of carbon intensity goal; further promoting the development of pilot cities (Suzhou, Huai’an, Zhenjiang, Nanjing and Changzhou) and launching the GHG inventory compilation; carrying out researches on Jiangsu carbon peak targets and roadmap, pre-studies of climate change goals for the 14th Five Year Plan; strengthening international cooperation and public dissemination.

Extension of Jiangsu Project Phase III

The “Supporting the Low Carbon Development of Jiangsu Province Phase III” project has been extended on a cost neutral basis to 30 April 2023 to finalise all indicators for achieving its overall goal. The extension application was approved officially by BMWK on 1 February 2023.
