Sino-German Industry Workshop on Waste Recycling

In order to deepen the exchange between the Jiangsu Province and the federal state Baden-Württemberg in the field of waste management, the TRENT (Transnational Competence Center for Environmental Technology and Research Jiangsu Baden-Württemberg) held the Sino-German Industry Workshop on Waste Recycling on Wednesday, May 25 2022 online. The workshop was supported by the GIZ Jiangsu Project and also served as a platform for promotion of cooperation between industry and research in the two regions. Invited experts and companies to discuss the current challenges as well as future priorities and potential directions for cooperation.

A representative from Jiangsu Department of Ecology and Environment delivered a keynote speech on industry symbiosis. A report on cooperation projects between science and industry in the field of waste recycling was given by a representative from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). In a following competence showcasing round, the representative companies and institutions from Jiangsu and Baden-Württemberg presented their products and technologies. Further, were the needs in terms of technical solutions as well as the  requirements for a potential cooperation partner introduced by the showcasing companies. Mr. SUN Bin from Jiangsu Liangshan Circular Economy Industry Development Co., Ltd introduction the circular economy best practices for the Jiangsu Province. A discussion session complemented the workshop. Hereby, the participants raised specific topics, intensified networking, and explored the possibility of future cooperation.

Extension of Jiangsu Project Phase III

The “Supporting the Low Carbon Development of Jiangsu Province Phase III” project has been extended on a cost neutral basis to 30 April 2023 to finalise all indicators for achieving its overall goal. The extension application was approved officially by BMWK on 1 February 2023.
