The Chinese and European Union’s Common Ground Taxonomy (CGT)

In November 2021, the “EU-China Common Ground Taxonomy (CGT)” was launched by the International Platform on Sustainable Finance (IPSF) at the UN COP 26 in Glasgow. The CGT mapped 72 climate change mitigation activities initially, whose technical screening criteria are aligned in both jurisdictions, and extended to 96 activities including climate change adaptation and environmental objectives in November 2024. Also, with the latest expansion, Singapore joined the EU and China in launching the “Multi-Jurisdiction Common Ground Taxonomy (M-CGT)” at the UN COP 29.
