Sino-German Workshop on Circular Economy of TRENT

In the field of circular economy, whether in terms of scientific research results or industrial production, the world is in the stage of exploration and early development. In this context, the first TRENT Sino-German Green Low-Carbon Circular Economy Webinar was held on Friday, 26 November 2021. This event was jointly organized with GIZ Jiangsu Project and the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI).

In this workshop, nine experts from Germany and China were invited for presentations in different fields of the topic of circular economy, and there were 80 audience members from various industries, universities, and authorities. In the meeting, German experts introduced the Communal Waste Management in Baden-Württemberg, the research and practical efforts in the recycling and reuse of plastic waste, the harmless treatment and utilization of electric vehicle batteries, Ecological Development of Industrial Parks, as well as urban sustainability. Chinese experts introduced details of the development status and approach of circular economy in China and Jiangsu, the upgrading of the Industry Park in Jiangsu, and the system design of green buildings.

There was great interest in the presented topics among the participants of the workshop. For example, the technology of plastic recycling attracted the interest of many companies, who are planning to establish closer contact with each other on the topic.  In the meantime, the research of end-of-life strategies for electric vehicle batteries at IIP aroused great interest, too. The upgrading of the Industry Park is a hot topic in Jiangsu and China as a whole.

Extension of Jiangsu Project Phase III

The “Supporting the Low Carbon Development of Jiangsu Province Phase III” project has been extended on a cost neutral basis to 30 April 2023 to finalise all indicators for achieving its overall goal. The extension application was approved officially by BMWK on 1 February 2023.
