Xixian New Area: Building a Modern Pastoral City Adapted to Climate Change

Xixian New Area is located at the joint of Xi’an and Xianyang of Shaanxi Province. The city has four distinctive seasons with dry and wet periods. In the past 50 years, due to multiple factors including climate change, the climate of Xixian New Area has undergone significant changes; the risk of climate change will continue to increase in the future. This puts forward higher requirements for the urban infrastructure guarantee capability and urban operation management level of Xixian New District. Xixian New District has carried out comprehensive urban climate change adaptation actions to enhance the city’s ability to adapt to climate change and promote the harmonious development of man and nature around the development goal of a “modern rural city”.
