Project: Sino German Cooperation on Climate Change - NDC Implementation

The workshop was opened by Dr GAO Xiang from NCSC and Mr Steffen MENZEL of the GIZ NDC Implementation project who also introduced the participants from NCSC, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, and Climate Analytics (CA).

During the workshop on 26 January, the NDCI project‘s workstream on sectoral best practices met up with Chinese partners and experts from the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), the Energy Research Institute (ERI), China Cement Association, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in order to discuss next steps for the planned cooperation on aligning the Chinese cement sector with the Chinese NDC targets.

On 13 January, the NDC implementation project discussed possible topics for emission reduction studies in selected sectors to be prepared together with Chinese experts.

The follow-up meeting to the last workshop held in December took place on 7 January and was divided into two sessions.

The workshop conducted by Climate Analytics (CA) and GIZ China NDCI project in conjunction with representatives of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NSCS) took place virtually on 15 December and featured participants from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Shandong Province.

On 10 December 2021, a project coordination meeting between the NDCI project team and NCSC was held.

November offered several opportunities for exchange among IKI Asia interface projects.
